Beginnings
Growing up, I always had a desire to build and create. I was first exposed to machining in high school and was immediately drawn to it, realizing I could essentially create anything. After attending formal machinist training at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technologies (SIAST), now Saskatchewan Polytechnic, I worked for a small variety of shops in Saskatchewan and Alberta, primarily focusing on CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machining. These shops provided machining services for a variety of industries such as mining, oil and gas, power generation, aerospace, and defense. This varied industry experience cemented a lifelong desire to achieve top quality with an attention to detail while achieving a Journeyman Machinist status with Red Seal interprovincial certification.
A Shop is Born
After leaving fulltime machining employment to work on the family farm, I found the passion for machining never left. I was soon purchasing and utilizing my own machine tools for farm repairs, as well as the occasional job for a neighbour. Achieving a lifelong dream in 2018, I purchased a CNC machining center from a former employer and Volk CNC Machine was born. A part time venture alongside farming, my goal is to create a small, yet capable machine shop focused on computer 3D design, precision machining services, and creating unique product solutions. Drawing on my years of farming experience has helped to create a unique offering of products to serve the Agriculture industry and much more.
I look forward to working with you and thank you for taking the time to learn more about this venture.
